When playing Hold’em players will be dealt two cards that only they will be permitted to see so when playing remember to never show other players your cards. These are known as whole cards. Once all the players have received their cards there will be a round of betting. Once the betting round is complete there will be three cards turned face up which is known as the flop and will be followed by another round of betting. The fourth card turned face up is known as the turn and will also be followed by a round of betting. The last card revealed is the river and will be followed by the final betting round. You will need to make the best possible hand with three of the board cards and the two you are holding in your hand. The player with the best hand will win any chips in the pot.

You will notice several different buttons on the table with each serving it’s on purpose. Most poker rooms have two blinds for poker tables which are known as the big and small blind. The big blind pays the full amount of the blind to play in a hand and the small blind will pay half of that. Some poker rooms may choose to play with only one blind, an ante, or a combination of both blinds plus an ante. You may also notice other buttons such as missed blind, kill pot, or the button. The kill pot is when one individual has won at least two hands in a row causing the blind amount to double. Once that player has lost to someone else the blinds will be returned to normal. The missed blind is when a player has sat out when it was their turn to pay one of the blinds and in order for them to return to table they must post the blind fee even if another player is big blind. The button is give to the player seated before the small blind and have the chance to see their cards and bid last. This gives them the advantage of seeing what other players are doing before having to make their own decision.

Omaha High-Low is played the same as regular Omaha except there may be two winners determined meaning one winner for the high hand and one for the low. A low hand is when a player has 5 cards ranging from ace to eight. So if one player has ace, two, four, five, seven and another player has ace, two, three, four, six the one with the best low hand would win. When the hand is over with if there is a high hand and a low hand the pot would be split equally between them.
